- On Monday, we are having the test over Chapter 10. Student must have their conversions memorized for the test. There will be no notes allowed.
- On Tuesday, we will begin Chapter 11: Geometry and Volume.
- We will be completing lessons 11.1-11.4.
- There will be one page of math homework assigned nightly.
- There are many resources available on ThinkCentral to help students.
- Every Friday, we will be having a multiplication timed test. Students should be practicing their multiplication facts daily.
- Small Group Reading
- Students will be placed into leveled small groups based on the results of their Unit 4 assessments.
- Students will be reading the following books this week: Drylongso, Escaping the Giant Wave, Hannah West in Deep Water, Flood.
- Students will also be completing learning stations during our small group reading time. All of these activities go along with our Unit 5 theme of why is water so important. Students will turn in a packet of their work which will also count toward their science grades.

- Unit 5 is entitled Every Drop. Students will be working to answer the question: Why is water so important? This unit will focus on science concepts as well so some of the assignments during this unit will count toward students' science grades.
- Students will be reading the legend Juan del Oso and the Water of Life retold by Enrique R. Lamadrid.
- Comprehension skills for this week are: analyze characters' responses,compare characters, make connections, explain sayings, compare themes, determine theme, analyze approach to theme, and compare approaches to theme.
- The Unit 5 test will be on Wednesday, March 8th.

- The writing project for this week will be to write a magazine article. This is the prompt: Write a magazine article that explains something about the importance of water. Add it to a class magazine.

Spelling- This week we will be working on spelling words with r-controlled vowels and commonly misspelled words.
- The words are: bleary, chairperson, cheerful, despair, earache, eerie, endear, hearsay, impair, nearby, overhear, peerless, searing, sheer, wearable, oar, or, ore.
- The spelling test will be on Wednesday, March 8th.
Grammar- Students will be working on using possessive nouns and adjectives.
- Students are encouraged to take good grammar notes and to review their notes before each test.

- We are reading the book, The Serpent Never Sleeps by Scott O'Dell. We will be reading chapters 7-9 this week and completing activities related to the book.
