- Math
- We are working on Chapter 6: Add and Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators.
- We will complete lessons 6.1-6.5 this week.
- There will be one page of math homework assigned nightly.
- There are many resources available on ThinkCentral to help students.
- Every Friday, we will be having a multiplication timed test. Students should be practicing their multiplication facts daily.
- Small Group Reading
- Students will be placed into leveled small groups based on the results of their Unit 2 assessments.
- Students will be reading the following books this week: Exploring Tide Pools, Greenland's Ocean Region, The Ocean Biome, and Life in the Oceans. Students will also be completing learning stations during our small group reading time. All of these activities go along with our Unit 3 theme nature's network. Students will turn in a packet of their work which will also count toward their science grades.

- Unit 3 is entitled Nature's Network. Students will be working to answer the question: What is nature's network? This unit will focus on science concepts as well so some of the assignments during this unit will count toward students' science grades.
- Students will be reading the science article, Phyto-Power!, by Mary M. Cerullo
- Comprehension skills for this week are: explain how main ideas are supported by details, summarize visual information, determine importance, compare genres, identify implied main idea.
- The test Unit 3 will be on Thursday, November 17th.
- Unit 3 is entitled Nature's Network. Students will be working to answer the question: What is nature's network? This unit will focus on science concepts as well so some of the assignments during this unit will count toward students' science grades.
- Students are working on the skill of establishing a purpose and identifying an audience. We will have the writing, revising, and editing test on Thursday, November 17th.
Spelling- This week we will be working on spelling plural froms and using commonly misspelled words correctly.
- The words are: biases, cells, clashes, diseases, disguises, mammals, motives, octopuses, perils, phases, ravines, ridges, specimens, stresses, successes, cite, sight, site.
- The spelling test will be on Thursday, November 17th.
Grammar- Students will be working on using irregular plural nouns.
- Students are encouraged to take good grammar notes and to review their notes before each test.

Science - We are working on activities and games that reinforce the concepts we have been learning in Unit 3: Nature's Network.
